Orientation FAQs:

Q: How long will Orientation last?
A: Each session lasts approximately one hour.

Q: What if I'm late?
A: The doors close at the scheduled start time. If you are late, we will ask you to attend another session.

Q: Do I need to register to attend?
A: No, no need to register. Orientations are held on a walk-in basis but please show up 10 to 15 minutes early to sign-in and pick up an information packet.

Q: How long does the whole application process last?
A: After you attend an orientation it will take an additional 6 to 12 weeks to complete the process. In most cases the applicant will be ready to enroll the following semester. Visit the application process page for more detailed information.

Q: I want to go into a healthcare field, can I apply this round?

A: In August Travis County residents who have not been to college before, will be able to apply to start in the College Prep Academy, after which they may continue with any sponsored healthcare career. If you are already in college, please check back in July for updates on which healthcare careers will be open to college level applicants. (Because of the popularity of heathcare careers, we anticipate only being able to accept college level students in a few specific healthcare careers.) Non-Travis County residents please also check back in July. [updated 6.13.11]

Q: When will Capital IDEA recruit from other counties?

A: To all of you who have been calling and emailing to find out when orientations will open up to other counties - we'd like to say that we share your disappointment and wish we could give you better news. Unfortunately, we are currently only able to recruit from Travis County. We don't anticipate this changing for the remainder of 2011. If it does change we will update our website immediately. [updated 6.13.11]

Q: If I'm in Williamson or Burnet County, where else can I go?
