English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes
Capital IDEA accepts individuals who already have a good understanding of English and are ready to begin college level ESL classes at ACC. After completing your college level ESL, you will begin studying for your Sponsored Career.
Typically, Capital IDEA students are enrolled in ACC's college-level ESL courses for four(4) semesters. The amount of time you will spend in ESL classes will depend on the level of English you begin with and the amount of time that you dedicate to your studies.
Not Sure if You Are Ready for College Level English Classes?
To find out if you are ready for college level ESL, take the free English Assessment at Austin Community College, offered at the campuses listed below. You must call and make an appointment. Your results will be turned in as part of your Capital IDEA application, so hold on to them. To begin college level ESL you must score at or above high-intermediate in reading, writing and oral English.

What if I Need Basic English?
