How the Process Works

Our dedicated Childcare Program Specialist, Rosemary Cavazos, will work closely with you to create a plan that fits your family’s needs.

Our goal is to have a reliable childcare solution in place before your first class.

Here’s what to expect:

Once approved by your Career Navigator, you’ll meet with Rosemary.

She’ll help you apply for Child Care Services (CCS) through Workforce Solutions.
3
If you qualify, CCS approval is expedited for Capital IDEA students.

If you don’t qualify or there’s a waitlist, Rosemary will explore other options with you.

Who qualifies for childcare assistance?

If you’re a Capital IDEA student with dependent children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years, you may be eligible for childcare assistance which will significantly reduce your childcare costs.

To qualify, you’ll need to:

Be accepted into Capital IDEA
Have a Social Security card for each child
Remain in good standing as you move toward graduation

We’ll support your childcare needs from your first semester to your last.

Who qualifies for childcare assistance?

When does childcare assistance begin?

Where will my child receive care?

If you qualify for CCS, you’ll be able to choose from a large network of licensed childcare providers listed on the Texas Child Care Availability Portal.

Other options may include:

YMCA Extend-A-Care
Boys & Girls Club
Austin ISD Pre-K
Head Start
ACC on-campus childcare
Or even a trusted friend or family member if formal care isn’t available
